"Back in 1996, we featured our first-ever Yahoo! Picks of the Year.
Eight years later, we're still scouring the Internet for fresh, fun, or
funky sites to spotlight every day. Over the course of the year, we've
featured hundreds of sites, and we think the very best deserve another look.
From fascinating photos to sophomoric stunts to intriguing innovations, these
sites are as an eclectic a mix as the Web itself. Selected by the Yahoo!
Picks editors, Yahoo! Picks of 2004 represent our favorite 25 sites of the year."

I'm just announcing that I was contacted by a fan of my work
that stumbled across a follow-up on Yahoo.com. On 11/15/2004, first
headline on here, my site was featured as a Pick of the Day. Apparently
it also earned a spot on the Picks of 2004 list of sites. This means
I just have to keep on pushing the limits! Yahoo, I thank you for your loving support
and I'll work hard to keep you watching. Moving on...

"Oscar the Grouch meets P.T. Barnum"
"Canned ham not half-baked"
"Entrepreneur pops up here, there taking pictures of himself peeking from a garbage can, gains exposure"
by David Giffels
"Tuesday afternoon:
That's him, idling on the downtown Akron sidewalk, reading a flier
on the door of the Lime Spider. The one in the jeans and the bright
blue ski jacket, with a guitar player's haircut. The one with the green
Rubbermaid garbage can strapped to his back.
Crazy Kent. He sees me coming and flashes an affable wave.
A passing letter carrier gives him a long glance, looking at the masking-tape letters on the side of the can: ``CrazyKent.com''
Kent Seaver, 21, citizen of the world by way of Springfield
Township, leads the way to his base of operations, a battered gold 1996
Volkswagen Jetta. He pulls his tripod and digital camera from the back
seat, checks his time on the parking meter and turns to scout a
location in the frigid cityscape.
Indecision has little place in his field of work. He chooses this
very intersection to begin: University and Main. He watches the traffic
light, timing his move. It changes, and Seaver dashes into the street,
drops his garbage can on the yellow center line, yanks out the legs of
the tripod and squats to peer through the viewfinder. He quickly
adjusts the can, rechecks the framing, then returns to the can.
The light is still red. He steps in with his left leg, then grabs
the right leg by the ankle, straining it over the lip of the can. He
quickly squeezes into a crouch and props the lid so only his face
shows. He grimaces wide-eyed into the camera, waiting, waiting. The
camera clicks. The light changes. He jumps out, grabs the can, grabs
the tripod, and scurries to the sidewalk.
``This is such a calm city compared to others,'' he observes, already walking northward up the sidewalk, looking.
This picture will join hundreds of others on his Web site, www.crazykent.com.
It will look like all the others: Seaver's face peeking out from under
a trash can lid. Only the backgrounds change. He has taken these
pictures in Houston, Los Angeles, Niagara Falls, Boston -- more than 70
cities in 34 states and Canadian provinces. Usually, he takes the
pictures himself with a timer. Sometimes he has his brother or a friend
as a photographer..." Read full story

"Kent Seaver is doing something rather unusual. He is going from place
to place on the continent, posing for pictures, in a garbage can. He has
been to Hollywood and New York and places in between. Seaver says he's
just trying to make people smile. He reportedly would like to take his
project to Europe, too."

"If you call Kent Seaver "Crazy Kent" he won't be insulted. He's been
crisscrossing the continent posing for pictures in a garbage can. He's
been from New York's Times Square to the Hollywood sign. Yesterday he
was in heartland. Seaver brought his garbage can to Canton, Ohio, for
pictures. He says he's just trying to make people smile. He's even got
a Web site, crazykent.com. Now, Seaver wants to take his can overseas.
He says he'd like to go to Europe and eventually to Tokyo. "

"Kent Seaver is coming to a trash can near you. Seaver has been going
city to city for the last two years posing for photos of himself in a
garbage can. The Springfield Township resident has been dubbed by some
as “Crazy Kent.” He’s snapped pictures of himself in more than 30 states

"Before throwing away that wrapper, first make sure Kent Seaver isn’t
sitting in the trash can. Seaver of Springfield Township, known by some
as “Crazy Kent,” has been going city to city for the last two years posing
for photos of himself in a garbage can. He has done it in more than 30
states and in Canada. He’s in Canton today. “The goal is to brighten people’s
day,” explained Seaver, who got the idea after visiting Kings Island.
“This is something that is not meant to be offensive.” What started out
as a fun way to get people interested in what he does on a trip has turned
into a full-blown Web site with hundreds of pictures, reviews of different
cities and, judging by its guest book, a hefty fan following...." Read

"Sometimes, after giggling at a gag site, your mind drifts to logistics of how one
would pull off such a long-running stunt. Imagine dragging a trash can to each of the
50 states plus the United Kingdom. Then think about working through the details of getting
somebody to take a picture of you in said trash can - and not getting run over if you were,
say, in it in the middle of a highway. Or over in Centro Ybor in Tampa. Kent is indeed crazy."

"Apparently Kent likes to travel. He also likes to have
his picture taken, although sometimes he's a bit camera shy. He's been
to 70 cities in 34 states and Canadian provinces, and he's had his picture
taken in every one by obliging and compassionate strangers. As he crisscrosses
the country, Kent's stopped in Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Nashville. He's
even visited the Alamo in San Antonio. We think that Kent must have been
a Boy Scout , because he's always well-prepared should a garbage-related emergency arise.
And he generously shares his plastic accommodations with others who appear
to be equally confused. We hope to see Kent some day in his Rubbermaid receptacle.
Until then, you won't hear us talking trash." Read it there!
